The Human Brain - Duvernoy (1999)
If you only buy one brain atlas, this is the one to get.
This atlas has excellent schematics of a representative brain along with surface views and slices of real brains. There is a brief but well-written overview of brain regions. Unlike many brain atlases, it gives a good description of cortical sulci and gyri.
The hard copy is hard to find for an affordable price but you can buy an eBook.
Brain Tutor (3D) App
Brain Tutor is an app from Brain Innovation (the company that makes BrainVoyager fMRI software). Brain Tutor is available as a free app for Mac or PC. Brain Tutor 3D is a low-cost app for mobile devices. Both programs enable viewing of lobes, sulci, gyri, Brodmann’s areas, and several functionally defined regions on either brain surfaces or slices. In addition Brain Tutor 3D shows subcortical structures and fibre tracts from DTI.
Brain Tutor available from Brain Innovation.
Brain Tutor 3D available from the Apple or Google app stores.
Atlas of the Cerebral Sulci - Ono, Kubick, & Abernathey (1990)
Excellent for showing intersubject variability and deviations from the norm.
Gives probabilities of configurations and stats on sulci.
Atlas of Regional Anatomy of the Brain Using MRI with Functional Correlations - Tamraz & Comair (2000)
Good overview.
Human Brain Anatomy in Computerized Images 2e - Damasio (2005)
Good for showing sulci across a wide range of slice planes.
Has a very clear and concise description of major sulci and divisions.
Good for main sulci; secondary sulci are omitted.
